The scope of this paper is to analyse the Ecuadorian approach, considering that it is the only legal system which, so far, has constitutionalized the rights of Nature, thus allowing a change in the status of Nature, from object to subject of law, overcoming the traditional approach of Western environmental law. Latvijas meža augšņu humusa raksturojums un veidošanās lauksaimniecības zemju apmežošanās procesā

Promocijas darbā pētītas augsnes virskārtas morfoloģiskās īpašības (atbilstoši EHFRB humusa formu klasifikācijai), organisko vielu saturs, padziļināti pētīts augsnes humusvielu sastāvs un ķīmiskās īpašības. Pētījuma rezultāti liecina, ka sausieņu mežos Latvijā organiskajām vielām relatīvi bagātu augšņu (mull humusa formas) telpisko izplatību nosaka glacigēnie un glaciolimniskie nogulumi. Lauksaimniecības zemju apmežošanās procesā organisko vielu uzkrāšanās augsnes virskārtā sākas 30 gadus pēc apmežošanās, augstākā C krāja ir 60 līdz 100 gadus vecu meža zemju augsnēs. A novel approach for resource recovery includes forward osmosis (FO) as a concentration step in municipal wastewater treatment. The current study investigates different pre-treatment strategies including biological treatment with a moving-bed bioreactor (MBBR) at different loading rates and particle removal by filtration and sedimentation. Membrane performance and recovery potential for energy and nutrients were investigated in laboratory-scale FO experiments in batch mode using pre-treated municipal wastewater as feed and 35 g/L NaCl as a draw solution. Uzņēmumi savās mājas lapās var izmantot ar dabas aizsardzību (DA) saistītus terminus, lai sabiedrība tos uztvertu noteiktā veidā. Šī bakalaura darba mērķis ir analizēt DA terminu lietojumu desmit izvēlētu uzņēmumu mājas lapu tekstos, kas ņemti no piecām dažādām nozarēm. Galvenās pētījuma metodes ir literatūras apskats, absolūtā biežuma analīze un diskursa analīze. Dati parāda, ka automašīnu ražotāji savās mājaslapās izmanto visvairāk DA terminu, savukārt apģērbu firmas izmanto vismazāk DA terminu. Lielākā daļa atrasto DA terminu ir lietvārdi. Tiek secināts, ka uzņēmumus, kas savās mājaslapās lielākoties izmanto DA terminus no „vides risinājumu” kategorijas, var uztvert kā dabai draudzīgākus…

The increasing of standard living causes the increases energy consumption and waste or wastewater production. The possibility to combine wastewater treatment and electricity production can accomplish a microbial fuel cell. The possibility of wastewater treatment using the Cu-B catalyst with KMnO4 catholyte for microbial fuel cells is presented in this paper. The measurements covered comparison of changes in the concentration of COD, NH4+ and NO3- in the reactor without aeration, with aeration and with using a microbial fuel cell (with Cu-B cathode and KMnO4 catholyte).
